Before you start creating web content, it’s important to familiarize yourself with Cascade. The Cascade interface for managing sites consists of three main sections: the Top Menu Bar, the Asset Tree, and the Workspace.
Top Menu Bar
The Top Menu Bar is located at the top of the Cascade interface and is visible both on the dashboard and within the site interface.
Menu Options
From the Top Menu Bar, you can access the following options:
- Home button (Cascade logo): Returns you to the dashboard.
- Site Selector: Lists all sites you have access to.
- Add Content: Used to create new assets such as pages, folders, and blocks.
- Site Content: Displays content for the currently selected site.
- Manage Site: Links to site administration options.
- My Content: Shows content from all sites you have access to.
- Search: Allows you to search across all areas of the CMS you have access to.
- User Menu (first initial or photo): Displays Cascade account settings.
- Administration Menu (hamburger icon): Provides links to Cascade’s Help & Support, Publish Queue, and advanced options if enabled on your account.
Asset Tree
The list of all assets for the selected website is displayed to the left of the screen in the Asset Tree. The Asset Tree menu can be used to navigate across the site and represents the structure of the site.
- Open/Close Toggle: This feature either expands or collapses the Asset Tree.
- Trash: Acts as a repository for deleted assets. Click on the trash icon to view or restore content. Items remain in the Trash temporarily before permanent deletion.
- Base Folder: Contains all other assets within the site, identified by the site’s name.
- Site Content: Represents the folder structure of the site. Click on folders to explore additional assets.
- Context Menu: Provides extra options when you right-click on any asset.
Please note that the asset tree is arranged alphabetically and does not reflect the site’s navigation sequence.
Workspace
The space located beneath the Top Menu Bar and adjacent to the Site Content section offers a preview of the content associated with the chosen asset. This area serves as the main workspace within the Cascade interface, dynamically updating based on the selected asset.
- Asset Preview: Shows a preview of the selected asset, whether it’s a page or an image.
- Asset Name & Path: Displays the name assigned to the asset and its location within the Asset Tree relative to the base folder.
- Asset Action Bar: Provides options for actions or tasks that can be performed on the selected asset.
- Folder Preview: Displays the contents of the selected folder. To choose a folder, hover over its name and click the arrow icon that appears.
- Folder Asset List: Lists all assets stored within the selected folder.
